In the Luke reading, it's always been a curious thing to me that Jesus seems to disown His own flesh and blood family (biological mother and step siblings - since He was conceived of the Holy Spirit). This temporary disownment apparently was because His own family wasn't "hearing the word of God and doing it" at that point time. It wasn't that Jesus was actually disowning them, but really showing His family, His disciples, and us what His first love, first priority, and first calling was to "His Father's business" - the plan for the world's salvation from sin and death. It's been nice to be reminded of that during this season of Lent again.
