The Lee Doring Sportsman-of-the-Year Award was given to Immanuel Lutheran High School in memory of Lee Doring who was a student of Immanuel High School and a member and co-captain of the basketball team.

Each year a student is selected to receive the honor of being named Sportsman-of-the-Year. The selected student:

• should be a student of Immanuel Lutheran High School during the respective year.
• may be a member of any of the high school classes.
• may play any competitive sport (Basketball or Soccer currently).
• should show qualities of leadership, sincerity, kindness, and the like.
• In the classroom, on the athletic field, or on the playing floor, with the help of God, has learned to act (behave) and play as a Christian athlete and student.
• In work and play, has learned to be a good winner and a gracious loser.
• In all activities, has shown a spirit of fair play.
• Scholastically, will have maintained a level in keeping with his God-given abilities and talents.
• may only receive this award once.
