Immanuel Lutheran Men's Club
The present Immanuel Lutheran Men's Club dates back to December 1, 1937. On that date a group of men from Immanuel Lutheran Church met. They elected Senator Val Imm as their temporary chairman, and he explained to the group that the purpose of that meeting was to organize the Men's Club of Immanuel Lutheran Church. The group organized by electing the following temporary officers: Senator Val Imm, president; Ernest Schmidt, secretary; and E.A. Silber, treasurer.
Numerous committees were appointed along with the temporary officers and it was decided to hold the next meeting on January 5, 1938. At this meeting the constitution and by-laws of the club were accepted as a basis for a permanent organization, and the following officers for teh year of 1938 were elected: Senator Val Imm, president; Dr. George E. Penn, vice-president; Ernest H. Schmidt, secretary; Axel Danielson, treasurer; Fred Eilenfeldt and Walter W. Alfs, members of the executive committee. Furthermore, it was decided that the meetings were to be held on the first Wednesday of the month, the meetings in September through May to be held indoors, and the meetings in the summer months to be held out of doors.
The objectives of this organization are to support the church in al her endeavors; to promote her social activities, and thus further Christian fellowship, and lend aid to any worth while civic undertaking.
The club membership is open to any male communicant member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church.
Since the club was organized it had sponsored a number of worthy projects; notably a softball team before teh war, erection of a flag pole at our school grounds, a service board in the narthex of the church on which is listed the various members of our congregation who have served their country; installation of door checks in our church, purchased a piano for the Sunday School auditorium, installed steam table in the kitchen, and lately the club purchased a 16 mm. Victor Sound Projector which is to be used by all the organizations of the congregation for the showing of movies.
The present officers are: Delford Precht, president; Alvin Maurer, vice-president; William Lichtenberg, secretary; Walter Kuhlman, treasurer and William Klammer and John Storm, members of the executive committee.
